LEROY

Leroy excellently blends the heart and spirit of music together with the practical. Piano theory can only get you so far, but without connecting music to the heart, it's lifeless. I used to play in fear, second guessing what I would execute; therefore, what came out was boring and unsure. Since taking lessons with Leroy, I have grown in confidence and love for piano playing - without fear - not to mention I have gone to another level in musical excellence and freedom!

“Played with burning passion and astonishing accuracy.”

"Leroy Hyter Jr., outstanding musician and composer, is one of the reasons Detroit is almost as synonymous with music as it is with cars.

I first met and became familiar with Leroy’s skills in the early 1980s when he was a member of One Way, the Detroit band that had a succession of national hits. Since that time he has continued to do what he does best —make good music.”

"Leroy Hyter has created a musical style all his own.

From the epic sweep of "What the Black Man Wants" to the personal message of "When You Cry" to the

calming mood of his Christmas album, Leroy Hyter has pursued his own vision of music and faith.

I will never forget the first time we rehearsed "Hope for the Children" with the Boys Choir of Harlem. The expression on the choir members' faces....radiant with the beauty of the music and the message

Leroy is showing what one man can accomplish with

talent, dedication and faith. He is a blessing to us all"

"I had been playing music by ear for years and went in to Leroy to learn about music theory and how to read sheet music. He went above and beyond all expectations and was able to teach me in a way where I was able to effectively read sheet music and have the ability to create my own music as well. All within a matter of months!"
